International Fair | Incubator Project

ARCOmadrid is a rather familiar fair for the Brazilian market and its generous profile allows the entry of galleries with different levels of international experience. This creates a very collaborative environment among member galleries which is especially beneficial for the beginners. The three galleries participants of the first edition of the Incubator Project last year (Emma Thomas, Galeria Jaqueline Martins and SIM Galeria) were approved again this year, an indication that this initiative inside ARCOmadrid is fulfilling its objective. The Incubator Project aims to introduce beginner galleries in the European market through mentoring and coaching during a number of stages prior, during and after the event, instilling in these galleries procedures and best practices for participation in international fairs .
Galleries approved in the 2014 Incubator Project were Galeria Marcelo Guarnieri and Galeria Pilar which presented at Solo Projects session works by artists Rogério Degaki and Fábio Flaks, respectively.
All in all, Latitude Project supported 12 member galleries at ARCOmadrid 2014, two more than last year.
In partnership with the British magazine ArtReview, Latitude organized State of the Art panel talk "Brazil: Being Local, Becoming Global" with the participation of Spanish co-curator of the 31st Biennial of São Paulo, Pablo Lafuente, the Brazilian gallerist Luciana Brito and Mexican curator Pablo León de la Barra, Guggenheim UBS Map Curator, Latin America. This roundtable was chaired by Oliver Basciano, editor of ArtReview. Full talk is available in video and ArtReview will publish its edited transcription in the June 2014 issue.
Latitude also held a networking event that allowed very interesting encounters among locals, international audience and Brazilians.
